Incident Summary
Quik! services experienced an outage due to an issue with our database storage. A particularly large number of transactions temporarily exceeded the available storage capacity, leading to a disruption in database operations. While our automated storage scaling feature responded to increase capacity, it was not fast enough based on our threshold to have enough of a buffer before the database stopped receiving connections. As a result, the database required a brief recovery period to ensure data integrity and restore normal operations.
Resolution
Our team quickly identified the issue and took the necessary steps to bring services back online. Once the database completed its recovery process, all Quik! services were fully restored.
Preventative Measures
To prevent similar incidents in the future, we have:

  • Enhanced our database storage capacity and scaling thresholds.
  • Improved monitoring systems to proactively track storage and backup performance.
  • Implemented additional safeguards to optimize storage usage.

Starting at 9:45AM CST until approximately 11:20AM CST Quik! customers may have experienced issues with their Quik! services. We will continue to monitor the Quik! API and App services and notify customers of any changes.
