Hello,

This message is to notify you that we are planning a full disaster recovery test that will switch from our production environment to our DR environment beginning at 6 AM PST on Sunday, June 18 and ending at approximately 8 AM PST. While we do not expect downtime, there is a potential for service degradation during the testing period.

We periodically test our disaster recovery (DR) plan by simulating a fail-over event. Simulated tests never affect production customers because we do not change our DNS records away from production. For this test we plan to switch DNS to point to DR to fully test the process and ensure that our infrastructure upgrades and DR switching process works perfectly.

HOW WILL YOU BE AFFECTED?
This switch over should not affect you. There may be a moment of latency or you may have to refresh a login to our application, but there should be no actual downtime for you. Operating in the DR environment will only last for 1 hour or less, long enough for our tests, and then we will revert back to production.

HOW DISASTER RECOVERY WORKS AT QUIK!
Our goal for a real DR event is to recover all systems within 2 hours of making the choice to switch over to our DR region - in practice it takes 1 hour.

Although our primary data centers and operations have redundancy and real-time failover (e.g. databases are mirrored, services are load-balanced and auto-scaling, systems span multiple data centers, etc.), we are prepared for a severe disaster event. Should such an event occur, our operations can be switched over to our DR region, which is several states away from the primary location.

Everything in our DR system cutover is automated except for the decision to change our DNS records to point to the DR region, which must be approved by our executive team (or systems team if executives are unavailable). A DR event occurs when certain thresholds are met, like a data center going dark or networks becoming unresponsive for a period of checks. When such an event happens our DR environment automatically comes up to full operating speed and is ready for the DNS change to be made should we deem it truly necessary.

NEXT STEPS
During and after this event, if you notice any issues affecting your service, please notify our Quik! Support team at support@quikforms.com.

Thank you,

The Quik! Team
